First there were smart phones. Then there were smart TVs. Now, there are smart… receipts?
Consider me a fan. I wish every food receipt was printed like this - we could all use a lesson on the nutritional value of food we eat when we dine out. Investors and restaurant owners, I suggest you head over to the Nutricate website to see how you can leverage what they’re doing.

Hopefully one day every restaurant jumps on this…I love the concept.

I haven’t been on tumblr in about two weeks but I came across this and just had to reblog. I love the idea and the fact that you know how many calories you are consuming while eating out…this is often the worst time for me…

I enjoy bootcamp.

Haven’t been updating much because everything on the weight loss/health front has been fairly routine.  Focusing on working out 4-5 times a week. The last two weeks I had bootcamp MWF and did cardio on my off days, spin or elliptical/treadmill.

I’m happy to be seeing results. Within the last two weeks from bootcamp alone I have been able to last longer and not get so winded running and keeping the intensity.  On Saturday I ran stairs and before I started I thought I wouldn’t be able to but I was fine and I could have done more.  Happy about that.

In terms of eating and weight loss things haven’t been as successful.  I do good some days but others I have cravings and give in to Starbucks, sushi, high fat foods that aren’t giving me the right nutrients…I really can’t figure out why I crave sushi so much. Something I really need to conquer.  Each week I lose about .5 lbs which I’m happy about but I am also sabotaging my weight loss by over indulging. For my Starbucks cravings I really need to just get coffee and maybe a treat once a week or even every other. For sushi I need to stay away from the fried, tempura, cream cheese varieties… Slowly but surely. Want to get my eating habits in line before the holidays when it’s even easier to gain…

My new bootcamp schedule is Sat and Thurs so I plan to go to the gym 2-3 times a week…most likely Mon, Tues or Wed. Can’t wait to see more results. It’s a great feeling to see the results…I usually get discouraged before I notice it much.

One day at a time.

This week.

I like to think…new week, new start. I ate pretty bad this weekend because it was my boyfriends birthday, which is no excuse but it’s reality.  After reading Are You Sabatoging Yourself by Health & Happiness from the Kitchen (great article by the way), I started to think…maybe I am sabatoging my fitness.

1.  I don’t drink enough water…I do somedays but not all of the time.  It really fluctuates. When I’m not busy I do it all of the time but when I find myself busy I forget or just don’t do it.

2.  I don’t take vitamins.  I hate taking pills and my gag reflex is so sensitive.  I bought a multi-vitamin before and I attempted taking it but I just couldn’t I know it’s as simple as swallowing but the smell gets to me and I can’t do it. So in order to move past my whole…can’t take large pills problem today I bought a liquid multi-vitamin at Henry’s.Liquid Vitamin

3.  On weekends I forget about the changes I’m trying to make in my eating habits and just eat whatever I want. We are usually on the go and I don’t take the time out to find healthy options while I’m out…I just eat! Such a bad habit and it really is what is causing me to not lose much or any at all. This is the biggest challenge I need to overcome this week.

Yesterday (Monday) started my six sessions of bootcamp with Bootique. It was a huge challenge for me in terms of stamina/endurance but I need that type of workout to keep me motivated to push myself. I did Spin today and wow my legs are tired. Will be back doing bootcamp tomorrow.  After these 6 sessions a ministry at my church is going to start a 6 week, twice a week bootcamp and the money goes to a homeless charity.  So glad they are offering this, it’s great timing since I just started my 6 sessions & it’s a great cause.

If I can get myself on track with my eating like I’ve been doing with my workouts I think I can lose weight more consistently rather than maintain like I have been for a while now.

Keeping Motivated!

My legs & glutes were super sore from Mon & Tues’ workout and I really didn’t feel like working out but since I’m doing my Biggest Loser challenge to keep me motivated, I pushed myself to workout today.  Did the same workout from Monday…3 sets of 3 circuits.  After seeing the video on Sarah Dussault I used the foam roller and it helped my legs some and it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be when I was doing lunges & dead lifts. I really had to push through my legs being sore but I REALLY want to lose the weight and get to my goal! We did our weigh in Wednesday this week and unfortunately I only lost 1/2 a pound. =( I was bummed but it was only one week AND now I feel like I need to stay focused & motivated in order to see better results.

As usual its my eating habits…didn’t do so well this weekend but I am trying to give up the sweets & liquid calories…my weakness! haha. Starbucks & Coffee Bean & Tea are my faves and I like frappucino’s & ice blendeds…I need to opt for the lower calorie options and even just regular coffee. No more soda either my other weakness! This weekend will be a challenge. Friday is my boyfriends birthday and we’ll probably be out and about all weekend so I need to really focus on limiting myself. If I want a drink I need to eat better foods!!!

Sore.

My workout today:

Elliptical: 5 mins warm-up, 15 mins HIIT - 20 seconds sprint/fast, 40 seconds recovery

& I worked out my abs and back I don’t know the names of all the workouts but I went until failure on both.

So NOW I’m sore. My legs, glutes & triceps.

Ever since I started at Revolution, I’ve been foam rolling on a regular basis.  It has helped my posture and flexibility incredibly.  Check out this old school video from DietHealth, featuring Katrina and myself when we were just 23 years old!  Kat shows you why you should use a foam roller and how to.  Even though now I am a trainer myself, I  couldn’t have done it better which is why I’m reusing this oldie but goodie.

Looking to buy your own foam roller?  Buy Now from my Open Sky shop.

Why shop from my Open Sky?

Because you are supporting local bloggers and small businesses who appreciate your business and only recommend products we use ourselves and on a regular basis.

I have always seen foam rollers at my gym but I just never knew what to do with them. Great vid. My legs are super sore from my last two workouts. Going to try it tomorrow.

Workout.

I tried a new workout today. I had the workout in my google docs…not sure where I found it, it’s been a while but it’s not my workout just one I came across online.

Circuit One (12 reps of each):

Reverse Lunges w/ 10 lbs.

Chest Press w/ 10 lbs

Bent Over Row w/ 10 lbs

Circuit Two (20 reps walking lunges, 12 reps of the other exercises):

Walking Lunges

Front Arm Raises w/ 5 lbs

Reverse Fly w/ 5 lbs

Side Arm Raises w/ 5 lbs

Circuit Three (12 reps each):

Dead Lift w/ 10 lbs

Tricep Kickback w/ 5 lbs

Bicep Curl w/ 5 lbs

I did 3 sets of each circuit. Was a good workout for me, esp since I’m just starting to workout my upper body more now.

Sucessful Friday…meh Saturday…

I’ve been really focusing on eating better this week because I’m doing my 6 week/Biggest Loser Challenge (with my mom & her two friends) so I’ve been cooking more.

I’ve been eating a primal breakfast: oatmeal & hard boiled egg whites, using MyPlate to track my calories and have been focusing on full body more regular workout sessions.

Friday: I did a new workout my sister recommended me to do and then came home & made Lettuce Wraps with ground turkey (I’ve switched from ground beef to ground turkey).

Saturday: I made my own version of the Naked Cafe’s Calexxxican. So yummy but not the healthiest breakfast. Instead of chips I fried my own corn tortillas in EVOO, black beans, soy chorizo, eggs, sour cream, avocado, Valentina’s sauce, & Mexican shredded cheese. Not my best meal but I’ve been craving it and I didn’t eat a lot. I made sure to limit how much I had. I should have used the egg whites like they do & no sour cream. Oh well. On top of my breakfast we went for Happy Hour downtown, so with a margarita & fatty bar food…it wasn’t such a successful day but I had a lot of fun if that counts. Went to see Aziz Ansari’s Dangerously Delicious Tour and got a good laugh!

The ups and downs of losing weight…I enjoyed myself but I need to continue to eat better.

6 week challenge.

Yesterday I scored a great deal on a local site, DiscoverSD, for 6 bootcamp sessions for $30 which is normally like a $120 plus…from Boot·tique Fitness.  Going to start next week.

& today Sarah Fit posted her lose 10 lbs in 6 weeks challenge. So as of today until 10/31 she is challenging her followers to:

I didn’t see the challenges for the week until after I’d already had my breakfast so I plan to officially start tomorrow morning.

Tonight is also the season premiere of the Biggest Loser! I know not everyone likes it because of the extreme measures taken and I don’t condone any of the negative things they promote but I do see how positive it can be to people who have lost hope…I’m torn but I am excited for it because my mom and sister watch…& it’s something we talk about…since they are 500+ miles away. Before I had seen Sarah’s challenge I was telling my mom we should do our own Biggest Loser challenge to encourage eachother. I still would like to lose 20 lbs and my mom has lost 13 lbs (she’s been working out with my sister, who is a personal trainer) and still would like to lose 30 lbs. My mom and I are similar…have a hard time with food & keeping motivated so I was thinking we could lose together…even with the distance between us.
